Uber Eats has announced that it will soon begin using Starship robots to complete food deliveries in parts of the UK, starting with the Leeds and Sheffield areas. These little robo-couriers will be able to handle deliveries only from “select merchants” for the time being.
For obvious reasons the robots won’t accept tips, but customers can still rate their experience through the app. We’re not sure what will happen to a particular robot with a sufficiently bad rating. It is possible that it may be sent to a farm somewhere in the countryside.
The service will launch in December and the platform says it will share more information on that date. Uber Eats also says it plans to expand its operating area in the near future. To that end, Starship robots are coming to “additional European markets in 2026” and more US markets in 2027.
This isn’t Uber’s first foray into robot delivery. Uber Eats uses robots to deliver and deliver food.
As far as starships go, these really are. The company says there are currently about 3,000 robots working in more than 270 different locations around the world. They can be found on many college campuses including.
