Two U.S. National Guard soldiers were shot Wednesday near the White House and their conditions were not immediately known, according to a law enforcement official who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
The incident occurred near the Farragut Metro station and came amid the controversial deployment of troops ordered by the Trump administration in the US capital city.
Emergency vehicles were seen responding to the area.
