Trump Is Boosting MAGA X Accounts Operating Overseas

a new feature OnX has revealed that many of the major MAGA accounts on the platform are operated by people based overseas. And since these accounts were exposed, President Donald Trump has continued to promote many of them.

Many of the accounts, which have large followers and claim to be conservatives based in Texas or “America First” accounts “promoting good against evil,” actually operate everywhere from Chile and Nigeria to Russia and throughout Eastern Europe.

These accounts largely post about divisive issues including immigration, gender and Israel. In one example, a verified account called MAGA NATION with approximately 400,000 followers and an American flag in its screen name was revealed to be operating from a non-EU country in Eastern Europe. Several accounts included the names of Trump family members, including an Ivanka Trump news account with more than 1 million followers that was based in Nigeria. The account has since been suspended.

On Saturday, Trump shared a screenshot of an X post from an account called “Fan Trump Army” on Truth Social. The account has more than 500,000 followers and features an image of Trump as its profile picture. According to the new X Location feature, the account operator is located in India. The account is followed by several people convicted for their roles in the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, as well as disgraced former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

In recent days, the account holder changed his bio to read: “An Indian who loves America, President Trump, Musk!” However, there was no mention of the account being run by an individual in India in the earlier version of the account’s bio.

On Sunday, Trump shared another screenshot of an X post on Truth Social, this time from a verified X account with the screen name: “Commentary Donald J. Trump.”

The screenshot reads, “Would you support the idea of barring foreign-born citizens from contesting elections? Yes or No.” The post also included a photo of Representative Ilhan Omar with Omar Fateh, a Somali-American lawmaker from Minnesota who ran unsuccessfully for mayor of Minneapolis earlier this month. The account’s profile photo features a photo of the President and the background photo features a bald eagle in front of an American flag. According to X’s new feature, the account is being operated from somewhere in Africa. (In some cases, the

In response to Trump’s post, many people called for a ban on foreign-born citizens holding political office, with some posters going further and calling for Omar and Fatah to be deported.
