This appears to be the philosophy for the Korean tech giant, as Samsung recently announced the Galaxy Z Trifold, a huge-looking flagship foldable, but not one. Two Hinged. It is designed to fold inwards to protect the massive main display. Samsung says there will be a series of alerts and vibrations that will let users know if they’re not folding it correctly. This makes sense, given that this is going to be an entirely new form factor for most users.
Even better, you won’t have to wait long to try it. Samsung says it will launch in the US in the first quarter of 2026. The company has not yet given price information.

From the press release and some photos provided by Samsung, it looks very similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, except larger and with an additional hinge. It still has a large external display, so you can use it like a normal phone without opening it, but when you to do Open it, you will experience a huge internal display. One of the things that made the Z Fold 7 so great was how thin it was, measuring just 4.2mm in thickness when unfolded. Surprisingly, Samsung says the Z Trifold is only 3.9mm at its thinnest point, so Samsung is making that a priority with this phone too.
It comes with the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset and a huge 5,600mAh battery. Samsung says you can multitask by having three apps open at the same time, all of them the same functional size as they would be on a regular 6.5-inch mobile display. Like Gemini Live support, all of Samsung’s AI features are here too.
There will surely be more details coming as we get closer to the final US release date. There has been speculation about this phone for months, with rumors most recently pointing to a September 2025 launch. They turned out to be true; The phone will launch in Korea in December, with the US launching later. If you’re on the fence about foldables because their displays aren’t big enough for you yet, this is something to consider.
