Hint for today’s Strands puzzle

Today’s Strands theme is: if all else fails…

If that doesn’t help you, here’s a clue: Don’t tell, it won’t be true.

Clue words to unlock in-game hints

Your goal is to find hidden words that fit the theme of the puzzle. If you’re stuck, find any words you can find. Every time you find three words of four letters or more, the strands will reveal one of the theme words. These are the words I used to get those prompts but any word of four or more letters you find will work:

  • glub, rats, tarn, del, font, fount, lash

Today’s Strands Puzzle Answers

These are the answers that connect to the topic. The goal of the puzzle is to find them all, including the spangram, a theme word that reaches from one side of the puzzle to the other. When you have them all (I originally thought there were always eight but found out the number can vary), every letter on the board will be used. Here are the nonspangram answers:

  • dandelion, star, coin, fountain, ladybug, eyelash

Hardest Strands Puzzles

Here are some of the Strands topics I’ve found most difficult in recent weeks.

#1: Dated Slang, January 21st. Maybe you didn’t even use this language when it was cool. Hardest word: PHAT.

#2: She flies the Thar! 15 January. I think marine biologists can succeed in this. Most difficult words: ballen or right.

#3: Off the Hook, January 9. Similar to the January 15 puzzle, this helps us learn a lot about sea creatures. Sorry, Charlie. Hardest word: BIGEYE or SKIPJACK.
