Timothée Chalamet Breaks Down That Iconic ‘Dune Part Two’ Speech

He may not like it, but when people say “Listen al-Ghab!” When you shout, Timothée Chalamet is proud. For him on the streets. It refers to Dune: Divide, Where Chalamet’s character, Paul Atreides, comes to power and fulfills his destiny as the godlike figure in Freeman’s life. Following the film’s release, Chalamet was asked to chant “Lissan al-Ghab!” Basically it became a meme, but it wouldn’t have happened if one key scene hadn’t come together perfectly.

Only four days are left for next year’s main photography to be completed Dune: Part ThreeChalamet joined fellow actor Adam Sandler in Los Angeles to discuss his career, and io9 was also in attendance, courtesy of Netflix. The two watched clips from each other’s careers, including Paul’s unforgettable speech from the end Dune: Part 2Here it is as a reminder,

“It was a big thing to remember,” Chalamet began. “You’re remembering something in made-up language, so I’m always very proud of that. And Dennis [Villeneuve, director] Asked me to memorize it in English also. So there are some verses in it that are just normal spoken word, but I’m very proud of that sequence.”

“I’ve basically finished filming part three Four days ago,” Chalamet continued. “It’s inspiring to me that something like that duneI’m talking about the themes, even, in the book, and it’s a psychedelic story that has taken on this personal resonance for me. I’m feeling a little teary watching this because I just finished it four days ago. I grew up through those films.”

two short films are coming a complete unknown and this year’s Marty SupremeChalamet then compared that work to mega-franchise work. ,dune“By the nature of how big the production is, you might have two days or three days where you’re not in great demand, so I always circled that scene,” the actor said. “I was like, ‘Okay, this is my shot,’ and I wanted to prove to Dennis and myself, besides giving speeches in made-up language in front of 800 people or whatever, that I can own it. And I am very proud of that. I remember calling a good friend of mine the night we shot that and saying, ‘Man, this was awesome.’ So that was amazing. “Words don’t do it justice.”

Chalamet added, “And at the same time, it was satisfying, because Paul Atreides didn’t have that climactic moment in the first film.” “So it felt like I’d been building to it for years. And now, you know, I’m on the streets, and people say, “Listen al-Ghab!” which is more insulting than it sounds.”

Chalamet’s new movie, Marty SupremeIs out on Christmas Day. Then, the next Christmas, Paul’s journey ends. Dune: Part Three, Which is currently scheduled to release on December 18, 2026.
