Threads is working on new features that could make the text-based social network a little more audio-friendly. Starting today, Threads is introducing some new features for sharing podcasts and podcast episodes. Creators have the option to add a link to their show to their bio page; After that, their posts containing the show and episode link will appear along with the audio preview. Non-hosts will also start seeing new previews when they post links to their favorite shows.
For starters, the rollout is only supporting Spotify shows. Connor Hayes, who heads the threads and also posts about the new feature, responded to another user saying that Apple Podcasts will also eventually receive support. Previews are going live today and will be available to all users in the coming weeks.
Theoretically, this feature could help attract new listeners. However, the success rate of the threads is not strong when it comes to users clicking on the links. It will be interesting to see if the audiovisual addition makes it more attractive for people to visit podcast pages.
