The skyrocketing price of RAM is troubling custom PC makers including CyberPowerPC and MainGear. On Wednesday, CyberPowerPC announced that it plans to adjust pricing across all of its systems on December 7, as previously reported. pcmag,
“Recently, global memory (RAM) prices have increased by 500% and SSD prices have increased by 100%,” CyberPowerPC said in a statement posted on Xpress. “This has had a direct impact on the cost of building gaming PCs since 10/1/25.”
In the meantime, Maingear is trying to hold off price increases as long as possible. Wallace Santos, CEO of Maingear, explains, “I expect prices to continue to rise and then we will eventually have to increase our lead times as stock and allocations become limited, but we are in constant communication with our vendors and will delay these increases as long as possible.” wccftech,
The price of RAM has fluctuated significantly over the past month as AI companies buy more RAM and data storage for their massive data centers. Some physical stores have resorted to pricing components at market prices, not unlike how seafood restaurants sell the catch of the day. CyberPowerPC estimates that “the price increase will be temporary” and will go down again “as market conditions change.”
Maingear CEO Wallace Santos explains wccftech If customers need a memory or storage upgrade they will want to start “shopping now”. Although this may seem like another way to promote Black Friday sales, Santos is actually warning of increased shortages, and says that the PCs he’s selling this Black Friday are “protected from these price increases.”
Skytek Gaming, another company that specializes in prebuilt and custom PCs, said in a post on Facebook that it is “also being impacted by rising RAM prices,” though it’s unclear whether these changes are affecting the prices listed on its website yet.
