Despite the low price, these have a surprisingly capable feature set. We were immediately impressed by the active noise cancellation, especially when it comes to tuning low frequencies. They are excellent for drowning out the busy sounds of urban life, allowing you to immerse yourself in music rather than passing cars and trucks. They are not as fast for high frequencies like talking and clicking, but depending on your use case this may not be as big of a problem.
The fit and finish is really great for how little you’re paying. They have a comfortable shape that stays in your ears, and the generous inclusion of five different sized tips will ensure that all ears are welcome at the party. Battery life is on par or better than more expensive competitors. We got up to seven or eight hours on a single charge with the noise-canceling feature on, for a total of about 40 hours including extra juice in the charging case.
You can customize a ton of features of the A40, from the way touch controls work to the sound profile. They also have a proper multiband equalizer, so you can tune the response exactly to your taste and style of choice.
While the Anker SoundCore Space A40 comes in a variety of colors, only a few are actually discounted as I write this. You can buy them in black, blue, or white for a discounted price of $45, or pay a little more at $60 for the purple pair. Unfortunately, the final color, light green, is not currently marked.
