If you’re wondering what the main differences are, the standard PS5 features a built-in disc drive, which the cheaper PS5 Digital Edition does not. This means you can play physical games or Blu-rays without spending the extra $79.99 on Sony’s external disc drive. Beyond that, though, they’re largely identical, each offering 1TB of internal storage, which you can expand with a heatsink-equipped drive.
Meanwhile, the PS5 Pro is for those who want the best console experience available. It improves things with double the storage (2TB), although, like the PS5 Digital Edition, it lacks an internal disk drive. Its most important features are under the hood: 62 percent faster GPU, better ray tracing, Wi-Fi 7 support, and AI-powered upscaling. All of this allows some games to run at higher frame rates so the visuals look even better, especially on “PS5 Pro Enhanced” titles. That said, the difference in real-world play isn’t always dramatic. Our reviewer saw real improvement only when sitting within 10 feet of his TV, and only a few games – final fantasy vii rebirth Specifically – looking exceptionally crisp and defined.
