Where does that leave his lover Lewis, who was the focus of the first two seasons? The preview shows that Jacob Anderson remains part of the cast, seemingly haunting Lestat’s story in the same way Lestat had his back in season two. But showrunner Rollin Jones told Entertainment Weekly that Lewis’s appearance is the biggest change this season based on the Anne Rice novel, which Jones said “she doesn’t have much of.” The expanded role for Lewis was born out of Anderson’s love for the performance, and Jones feels it is something fans would love to see play out.
“We wanted to provide a really nice arc for Louis,” he teased. “Of all the stories we’ve been presenting this year, this is the one that’s working best and fastest, and that’s just so obvious, and it’s really divine and very heartbreaking.”
The same logic of bringing Louise back applies to her and Lestat’s daughter Claudia, played by Delaney Hayles. Jones admitted that the book version of Claudia didn’t have much left to do, but brought her back in this season because Hayley’s “[was] The ultimate beauty of a performer…and really changed a lot for the better on our show.” He was again skeptical about what to expect from her, but said that Claudia would have “even more range” than fans saw in previous seasons.
