This book made my skin crawl, but I couldn’t put it down. Persona It is a disturbing, sometimes horrifying novel that explores identity, alienation, exploitation, and human relationships under the distorting effects of the Internet and an economic system that leaves many struggling to make a living. It feels like a nightmare, with the prose sometimes being unrealistic and confusing, and sometimes uncomfortably descriptive. It would be hard to get into more details without spoiling some key elements of the story, so I’ll just leave you with a little recap: “A trans woman discovers porn about herself that she has no memory of creating, and finds herself led to an unimaginably deep evil.”
Persona It plays out in four parts, getting progressively stranger and stranger as it all unfolds. It’s a must-read, especially if you’re looking for a quirky horror story. But you might want to save some lighter stuff for later.
