Disappointing, but what a double feature that would be! 1990 horror comedy (involuntary The comedy) follows a family visiting the town of Nilbog, where they discover that it is home to a hostile community of goblins who are vegetarian – except that they also eat people, the film embraces such logic wholeheartedly. There are no real trolls (here’s another famous line: “Nilbog! It’s Evil spirit Spelled backwards!”), but shaky acting performances and squishy Z-grade special effects abound. It’s impossible not to have a good time while watching troll 2And the documentaries are also a must watch.
So what does this have to do with the other one? troll 2You can imagine that a film made in America in 1990 by an Italian crew would not have found a strange place in Norway. Instead, Roar Uthaug, who made 2018 tomb Raider Also 2022 trollBased on actual Nordic folklore and cutting-edge creature effects for its sequel, which continues the story of the first film. Here’s the official Netflix summary:
“When a dangerous new troll awakens, wreaking havoc across Norway, beloved adventurers Nora, Andreas and Captain Chris embark on their most dangerous mission yet. To stop the creature’s brutal destruction, they must enlist new allies and delve into the country’s ancient history in search of answers. As the clock ticks and the troll’s path of destruction widens, our heroes face impossible odds in the fight to save their homeland from falling into darkness. Let’s face it.”
Speaking to Variety, Uthaug explained, “I had the idea for a troll movie like this in the ’90s.” But before you get too excited, he was inspired by Steven Spielberg and other creators of action films of that era. In other words, not the best scholar of the decade.
“That was after seeing armageddon And Independence Day And Jurassic ParkI was thinking, ‘How can we do this in Norway?’ “What will it be about?”
He continued. “I thought, ‘What if a troll were, in fact, walking through the center of Oslo today? How would the government and the military react?’ And that was the first inspiration for the film.”
First troll was a big hit in non-English languages for Netflix, and Uthaug told Variety that if part two is similarly well-received, a third could follow. “We’ve talked about it and the word ‘trilogy’ sounds really good,” he said.
You say, the man appreciates a sentence? Perhaps there is a dark sense of humor hidden within? Someone get them a copy from the 1990s troll 2 As soon as possible.
