I think this is a great option for most people. I recommend it to people who aren’t totally crazy helicopter cat parents, but want a cheaper model than some of our other picks. It’s easy to use, compact and smells really nice. This one is especially nice for clean-minded people like me: triple odor control, a sealed waste bin, an odor eliminator attachment that sits in the litter box, and a citrus deodorizing spray that goes off after every cleaning and randomly throughout the day to ensure the litter box stays fresh.
When the cat enters the box, their weight is displayed on the front for easy viewing, and the app logs each time they use it, for how long, when the cleaning cycle begins, when it ends, and when the deodorant spray is emitted. Plus, if you don’t want to rely on the app to change settings or start a manual cycle, pet parents can also change the settings manually via the buttons on the front.
After testing several of these, I noticed their quirks. Many of the boxes I tested don’t rotate at the top, and so filling with clean litter can be tight and awkward. So, perhaps the best thing is that when it comes time to refill the clean litter, the box rotates so that the hole is at the top for easy filling (trust me, it’s a back saver).
Most automatic litter boxes hover in the $500-ish range (though I’ve tested models that are much larger), and I think this model is quite reasonable at its usual $500 price. However, it’s been made more affordable with this sale, bringing its price down to less than $400. It’s definitely an investment, but it will make your home a lot cleaner (and you and your cat happier, promise!).
