The Monsterverse Loves Wyatt Russell So Much It’s Giving Him His Own Show

Of course, the MonsterVerse loves monsters, but it also loves the Russell family. season two of Emperor: Legacy of Demons Upcoming, starring Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell as older and younger versions of the same character, Colonel Lee Shaw. And now, a new show is coming that will have Wyatt Russell reprising the younger version of his father’s character, but a little older.

The spinoff series, which Wyatt Russell will also produce, “follows the story of Colonel Lee Shaw, an American operative who in 1984 goes on a secret mission behind enemy lines in an effort to stop the Soviets from deploying a terrifying new Titan to destroy America and turn the tide of the Cold War.” It’s interesting because, on KingWyatt plays Shaw in the 1950s, so it will tell a story set between the events of that show.

Also as part of the news, Apple and Legendary announced Obi-Wan Kenobi Writer Joby Herold will run the show and become the new overseer of the MonsterVerse, responsible for the new show, KingAnd whatever else might be handy.

“I couldn’t be more proud to have been a part of the creation of this wildly iconic universe,” Harold said in a press release. “Apple and Legendary have been exemplary partners throughout this process, and we will continue to bring these legends of cinematic history to audiences with the respect they deserve.”

There’s no word on what the show will be called or when it will arrive, but the character will next appear in season two. KingWhich will start on Apple TV on February 27, 2026.

That show expanded a connected universe that debuted on the big screen with 2014’s GodzillaThen continued till 2017 Kong: Skull Islandof 2019 Godzilla: King of the Monstersof 2021 godzilla vs kongand then 2024 Godzilla x Kong: The New Empireis next on that track Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, Which will be released on 26 March 2027.
