The Longest Solar Eclipse for 100 Years Is Coming. Don’t Miss It

Period of A total solar eclipse always varies. In April 2024, the eclipse crossing North America lasted 4 minutes and 28 seconds. In contrast, the one that will reach Spain in August 2026 will last just 1 minute and 43 seconds. In less than two years, both of them would be embarrassed by the longest coincidence of the century.

According to NASA’s solar eclipse calendar, the longest solar eclipse in 100 years will occur on August 2, 2027. Its total phase will last for 6 minutes and 23 seconds. During that time, areas of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East will be in the shadow of the Moon.

According to NASA’s map, the eclipse will begin in Morocco and southern Spain. After this it will move through Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and Saudi Arabia and end up on the coast of Yemen and Somalia. Its maximum duration will be recorded in Egypt, especially in Luxor and Aswan, which are famous for their funerary temples.
