The Launch of the iPhone 17e Is Reportedly Imminent

iPhone 16e review 8

According to Bloomberg’s Apple scoop-getter Mark Gurman, the iPhone 17e is “coming soon.” The “E” means, as you know, this is the cheapest, entry-level iPhone in the latest numerical series, and Gurman says it’s going to set buyers back $599 — the same price as Apple’s current bottom-end phone, the iPhone 16e.

Tom’s Guide previously wrote about rumors that the iPhone 16e would be released on Thursday, February 19, exactly one year after its release.

The 17e will reportedly get the same A19 chip as the iPhone 17, which is a formidable processor with better specs than your laptop – I’m willing to bet: a 6-core CPU configuration and a 6-core GPU configuration. It was the absolute top smartphone processor when it came out last year, but it may soon be overtaken in performance by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in phones like the Samsung Galaxy S26 when they become real.
The iPhone 17e will also feature additional upgrades in the form of the latest Apple cellular modem and the latest connectivity chips (likely meaning C1X and N1), Gurman says.
