Over the weekend, unofficial videos of Nintendo filming the Legend of Zelda The movie hit the internet, and now we’re getting our first look at Link and Zelda. Nintendo released three images today as part of a short teaser in its Nintendo Today app that shows that filming has officially begun. One photo shows Link and Zelda with the lush backdrop of New Zealand behind them, while others feature close-ups of the characters.
The photos contained nothing more than the note that the film will release on May 7, 2027, as previously announced. Link is played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, while Bo Bragason plays Zelda.

Despite the minimal details, there are a few things to note here. One, Link is in his distinctive green tunic rather than the blue robes he mainly wears breath of the wild And Tears of the state. Zelda, on the other hand, Is Rocking in blue. So good luck figuring out what era of the game we’re in. In all likelihood the film won’t stick to any one particular timeline or story, but will crush everything to create a new entry that stands on its own.

Even more exciting is the fact that Zelda is armed with a bow, which gives me hope that she’ll be more than just a damsel in distress. After all, it’s 2025, and the title character definitely deserves to slay some Moblins. I’m sure we’re all eager for more details – but given that filming has just begun, we’ll probably be waiting a while for a proper trailer.
