Fortunately, it looks like this is about to change, albeit in the near (but still very distant) future. During a recent Collider interview, Kwan revealed that the duo’s next, currently untitled film will be released in November 2027. Production is set to begin this summer. Secretly, he said that in the film he and Sheinert would “try to do what we’ve always done: listen very deeply to what’s happening in the world and try to absorb that and make something really fun and entertaining.” […] This will be an entertaining sci-fi action comedy with a big heart. Very existential.”
In Second Life, the film will arrive this summer on June 12th, which is currently occupied by disclosure day. Instead, Daniels delayed it to avoid Steven Spielberg’s orbit, and he used that extra time to watch everything happening in the world so he could “sum them all up”. [complex and really nuanced] Things and put them into a movie.
And when that movie hits, Kwan teased that it will be one for the big screen. As for the IMAX heads, he said the plan is to shoot most of it for this format so they can “bring people together and give them a big event. It’s a big action movie, which we’re really excited about.” We just have to spend the next year and eight months waiting for news about the film’s production and its official title. It won’t be hard, right?
