‘The Daily Show’ reacts to missing Epstein files on Trump

Donald Trump’s name comes up a lot in the Epstein files, but an NPR investigation reports that the Justice Department has withheld documents mentioning his name in connection with allegations that he sexually abused a minor.

This revelation not only dominated headlines, but also included monologues on late-night shows The Daily ShowTo which host Desi Lydic responded to the alleged missing files.

“Huh, that’s weird. Trump’s DOJ did this?” Lydic said. “The same DOJ that promised to release the Epstein files and then gave binders full of old documents to influential people and they wouldn’t release any more, so Congress had to pass a law saying they had to do it, but they still missed the deadline to release the files, and then when they finally did, the files were filled with brief redactions? That DOJ? No, I can’t see it.”

Lydic said that normally you would think that “a batch of missing files linking the President to international sex crimes would be the lead story on any network” but he pointed to conservative media sites that have instead “made a story even more disturbing and explosive.”
