The Best Kindle Colorsoft Sale Is Happening for Black Friday

a colorful e-reader There is a joy. Your digital bookshelf on a device like the Kindle ColorSoft becomes almost as colorful as the one you have at home, and browsing through a sea of new titles at the store becomes far more attractive than a sea of black and white. This is a great buy if you read a book with pictures on the pages, or if you like colorful highlights.

Amazon finally came out with a color Kindle last year, but with a price tag near $300, we weren’t as impressed as we should have been. But right now, during Black Friday, you can get a colored Kindle ColorSoft for almost as cheap as the black-and-white Kindle Paperwhite. Although there are plenty of Kindle deals you can snag right now, this isn’t the biggest one that’s easy to miss.

Kindle ColorSoft and ColorSoft Signature Edition

There are two versions of ColorSoft: the base model which arrived this summer, and the Signature model which arrived last year. Both are on sale now. Both also performed well in our tests (although the Signature is the one that had issues with yellow bars appearing at the bottom of devices last year) and are mostly similar, but there are some key differences. The Signature Edition has an auto-adjusting warm light, while the basic ColorSoft has a warm light that you can adjust manually. You’ll also get double the storage on the Signature, with 32GB up from 16GB, and the Signature can be charged wirelessly.

However, other than those three features, both have the same 7-inch screen and resolution of 300 pixels-per-inch (or ppi) for black-and-white content and 150 ppi for color. They are also both waterproof. My only complaints are that Dark Mode no longer darkens menu pages, and doesn’t work on downloaded content like AZW3 documents (which is a special ebook style formatted specifically for the Kindle).

Overall, this is a great e-reader, albeit very expensive, especially since you’re not getting things like a page-turner button or the ability to double as a digital notebook with Kobo’s color e-reader. However, if you are fond of Kindle, this really is the best time to buy.
