In April, iOS users finally got the new emoji icons introduced in the Unicode 16 update; We can expect to see the Unicode 17 list in 2026. However, if you’re on Android, using Google’s Notocolor emoji exclusively, you can try out the new emoji right now — including the much-anticipated distorted face emoji.
Emojipedia provided more information about the emoticons that won our little red hearts through their World Emoji Day statistics earlier this year. Polling upon the Unicode 17.0 release showed that distorted face was the most anticipated emoji, followed by fight cloud and apple core.
