Wired Special Deals:
Brewie BV-01 Brewer Bundle at $198 ($150 off)
The Bruvi BV-01 is my favorite pod-style coffee maker. It’s pretty as a button, with clean and simple lines and an aesthetically pleasing design that should match any kitchen decor. I like the large touchscreen interface and the built-in wastebasket. However, my favorite part is that the proprietary B-Pods are biodegradable and designed to break down in landfills. I don’t have to worry about special recycling or sending the pods somewhere to be processed. And yes, the resulting beverage is good too, whether it’s coffee, tea, or “espresso.” (Including sale price coupon.)
Ninja DualBrew Pro at $150 ($90 off)
Sometimes one pod will do, and sometimes you need a whole pot of coffee. Instead of doubling the counter space, consider the Ninja DualBrew Pro. This pod coffee maker can be used with K-Cups or coffee grounds supplied by you, and in addition to making individual cups of coffee, you can also make entire carafes. It has a built-in milk frother, although you’ll need to heat the milk separately, and you can even brew straight over ice if you prefer your coffee cold. While the machine is on the larger side, I like that you can reposition the water reservoir to fit it more efficiently on your countertop.
Keurig K-Cafe Smart Single Serve Coffee Maker at $150 ($50 off)
This is the pod coffee maker I reach for most often. My whole family loves it, partly thanks to the built-in milk steamer that can heat and whip milk for specialty beverages like lattes. I can make my own almost black coffee, and my little sister can make her fancy syrup-sweetened frothy whatsit, without spending time setting up any special equipment or anything. It’s easy to use, with on-board controls that let you choose a capacity and a strength, and a large reservoir that you won’t need to refill often. Brewer will intelligently identify compatible K-Cups and suggest recipes in an alternative app, but I personally found the app quite annoying. Thankfully, this isn’t necessary to get the most out of this machine.
Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ with Erosino Milk Frother at $129 ($50 off)
Technically, Nespresso brewers do not reach high enough pressure levels to produce true espresso. But many different espresso pod varieties result in an espresso-like beverage with more flavor and taste than drip coffee. There are pods for plain old coffee, too, and I like them both. I’m not personally a fan of flavored brews, but my co-testers were fans of Nespresso’s Almond, Caramel, and Mocha Vertuo varieties. I think this pod coffee machine could be more user-friendly – it took me a second to figure out how to insert the pod – but I like that the capsules are recyclable, and the machine collects its own waste. This deal comes with Aerocino Milk Frother that can help in improving your morning beverage of choice. It would be remiss of me not to mention the rainbow of color options for this machine, most of which are on sale for Black Friday.
