This is the best MacBook for most people. If you’re not a video editor or do a lot of graphics-intensive work, this is the MacBook you should probably buy. It has an M4 chip, a choice between an 8-core or 10-core GPU, and enough battery life for an entire workday. It runs smoothly with about 30 to 35 tabs open. This is the MacBook that most Wired employees have (I’m writing this on an old one right now!), so if your MacBook is about to die, you should get this.

The Mac mini is a computer designed to sit steadily on your desk, but now it’s smaller than ever, so much so that you can slip it into a bag for a hybrid work setup. The new Mac mini features incremental updates over its predecessor. It’s still a great little computer, and you can build an affordable, stable setup around it. It has plenty of power for most users, but it won’t be able to compete with gaming PCs.
