That Massive ‘Now You See Me 3’ Spoiler Cameo Almost Didn’t Happen

Now you look at me: Now you don’t look Works Magic at the Box Office This Weekend and Takes the #1 Spot Against the Much-hyped Remake running man Starring Glen Powell. It seems like audiences are in the mood to continue seeing the Four Horsemen pull off wild, Robin Hood-like stunts, which is what this star-studded franchise is all about.

And this is likely to continue. Not only has director Ruben Fleischer begun work on a fourth film, but the film ends with a big, surprising hint about what happens next. However, according to Fleischer, it almost didn’t happen. To explain we have to go into spoilers.

Going into its release, Now you look at me: Now you don’t look It seemed that two vital ingredients were missing. One was Lizzy Caplan, who replaced Isla Fisher in the second film due to scheduling. The other was Mark Ruffalo, whose spy-turned-magic-leader has always been at the center of the action. Well, one of these now you see me 3The first big move is to bring Caplan back in the middle of the film, and then, for its final reveal, there’s the return of Ruffalo as well. Only, it’s not what you’d expect.

“The biggest challenge with Mark is his schedule,” Fleischer told Variety. “He’s a very busy guy, and so he was only able to be in the movie because we did some reshoots this summer. He basically wasn’t available during principal photography. He actually wasn’t available during our reshoots either, but I was lucky enough to catch him in New York for a day, and we shot him in front of a green screen. That’s why he’s a hologram, as opposed to entering the scene. We took what we could get.”

yes, at the end of Now you look at me: Now you don’t lookRuffalo’s character Dylan Rhodes, whom the film initially reveals is in prison, appears as a holographic message to the Horsemen and their new counterparts. He teases that everything that happened has been to The Eye’s liking (he seems to run a giant magical society), but now this new group has a lot more to do. We believe this will be the plot of the fourth film.

How that tampering would have played out had Ruffalo not been available, we don’t know. But featuring him in the film feels like the final piece of the puzzle that keeps this installment as relevant as the rest. We hope they all get back together again, and fast.
