CHICAGO (WLS) — ABC7 meteorologists say the Chicago area could see up to nine inches of snowfall this Thanksgiving weekend.

An AccuWeather alert was issued for Wednesday as a cold front is set to bring winds up to 50 mph.
A wind advisory is in effect from 3 AM to 9 PM Wednesday.
Wind chills will remain in the teens and 20s throughout the day Wednesday.

ABC7 meteorologists Greg Dutra and Tracy Butler said Thanksgiving Day is looking dry but hazy with highs in the 30s.
Partly cloudy skies will remain cold through Black Friday; Flooding is possible in northwest Indiana.

From late Friday night into Sunday morning, when all eyes are on the forecast for snowfall.
Dutra said the latest European weather models show anywhere from 6 to 10 inches of snowfall from Saturday to Sunday.
However, GFS weather models put the Chicago area closer to 4 inches.

Dutra said the storm system approaches the West Coast on Thursday, and that’s when we’ll have a better handle on local totals.
Butler said snow began arriving in the Chicago area around 4 a.m. Saturday.
The blizzard is expected to last Saturday until clearing by late Sunday morning.
