And, as noted in its post, Tesla also provided a link to the regulator’s contact page so Tesla fans can thank RDW.
RDW on Monday posted a statement Tesla’s X post is specifically addressed on its website. According to RDW, the regulator has worked out a schedule with Tesla, stating that the company must demonstrate that the FSD Supervised meets regulatory safety requirements in February 2026. RDW specifies that although it will not reveal specific details, Tesla knows what it will have to demonstrate to get the FSD approved at that time.

Additionally, it appears that Tesla fans contacted RDW regarding FSD approval, as the regulator had to specifically request that Tesla supporters stop calling and wasting their time. RDW has also clearly mentioned in its statement that any contact of Tesla fans with the regulator will have no impact on RDW’s decision regarding FSD approval, as the decision will depend solely on road safety concerns.
So, was the Tesla post an attempt to pressure RDW into getting Tesla the approval it wants?
As bloomberg Turns out, Musk’s statements during Tesla’s annual shareholders meeting earlier this month strongly point to that possibility.
“The pressure on regulators to push for approval on behalf of our customers in Europe will be appreciated,” Musk said at the meeting.
Despite introducing full self-driving in the US and some other countries years ago, Tesla has not been able to do the same in Europe. According to Elon Musk’s EV company, Tesla’s “key path to success is to partner with the Dutch approval authority RDW to obtain an exemption for the facility.” According to TechCrunch, approval with RDW is an important first step toward broader approval across the EU.
