Terry Bradshaw tells Rob Gronkowski he should be ashamed of himself in heated on-air spat

Terry Bradshaw told fellow Fox NFL analyst Rob Gronkowski during a heated pregame segment about the Carolina Panthers on Sunday that he should be ashamed of himself.

Terry Bradshaw and Rob Gronkowski have a heated exchange over whether the Carolina Panthers are actually in the league this NFL season.

During a pregame segment on Fox NFL Kickoff, studio host Charissa Thompson asked Gronkowski if he’s “a believer or not” in the Panthers, who are off to an uncharacteristically strong start to the year at 6-5 ahead of a Monday Night Football tilt against the San Francisco 49ers.

“Not a believer, they’re too inconsistent,” Gronkowski replied before being scolded by Bradshaw. “You should be ashamed of yourself. This is just not right. What’s wrong with you?” Bradshaw told Gronkowski, coming to the Panthers’ defense. This happened after Fox NFL Sunday viewers urged Terry Bradshaw to retire after Michael Strahan corrected him.

Bradshaw, who was appearing on Fox NFL Kickoff after missing last week’s Fox NFL Sunday show due to illness, surprised both Thompson and Gronkowski, given the longtime analyst’s general friendliness, both on and off air.

Bradshaw continued, “There was a time when your team wasn’t that good and you ran away, and here I go on television and tell America that New England is…,” before being cut off by Gronkowski.

“What team was that?” said Gronkowski, who played only for the highly successful New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers teams in his career. “What about you, Terry? It seemed like you had a losing record, you were 6-8 at one point.”

“You can’t talk about me,” Bradshaw clapped back. “It’s going to irritate the audience.”

It’s not clear exactly what Bradshaw was referring to when Gronkowski cut him off, given that the Patriots had never been close to Carolina’s record at this point in the season during Gronkowski’s nine-year tenure with the franchise.

In fact, during Gronk’s tenure, New England’s worst record through 12 weeks was 8–3.

It’s possible that Bradshaw, who stood opposite Julian Edelman, another former Patriot, during the “warmup” was picking Gronkowski to make for entertaining television.

After all, the Panthers were not considered legitimate contenders despite their record, and Bradshaw may have felt the need to stand up for them.

Bradshaw and Gronkowski have won four Super Bowls during their highly successful playing careers, so both guys know what a good team looks like when playing with so many players.

After starting the season 0–2, the Panthers have won six of their last nine games, including an upset win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 9. With a tough remaining schedule that includes the 49ers, Rams, Buccaneers (twice), and Seahawks, it will soon become clear whether Carolina is indeed in it.

It comes after Bradshaw desperately tried to fight an issue he ‘can’t believe’ exists in America.
