After teasing a magnetic, modular smartphone concept in the past, Tecno has introduced two other phone designs focused on color-changing finishes: one with E Ink, and the other incorporating neon.
I like Pova Neon best, which the company says features not just bright colors, but actual neon lighting: It uses “ionized inert gas lighting technology” to create the glowing effect.
In contrast, AI EInk creates colored electronic ink on the back of the phone, allowing you to change the color of the phone instantly. Perhaps more impressively, you’re able to set the color using the camera, so you can match your phone to your outfit in the same photo.
As with any concept, there’s no guarantee we’ll see Tecno release an actual phone with any design, and the Neon isn’t particularly likely to come to market — but I can imagine releasing a color-changing E Ink phone before too long.
