Taylor Swift’s mystery novel idea for Stephen Colbert post-‘Late Show’ is wild

Taylor Swift joins Stephen Colbert the late show On Wednesday, and not only did they talk about how to deal with the end of an era, but they also planned a mystery novel?

After asking the artist to list her five favorite Taylor Swift songs (a tough question, but “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” is in there), Colbert and Swift talked about what the host will do after her show’s controversial cancellation next May. According to Swift, Colbert will work in podcasting, TikTok, and become an influencer, then pursue a career in literature.

“I think you’re going to write a really amazing mystery thriller where there’s a house and it’s covered in ivy, right?” Swift said, referring to his requirements for complete reading.

“Maybe off the coast of Maine?” Responding to Colbert, who begins frantically writing down plot details, Swift begins to ramble.

“There’s a mistress, but actually, she’s related to them. And so it’s really bad, but it’s a wonderful book. But it’s serious right?” Swift says. “And then someone falls off a cliff. Oh no, it was a ghost! And then it turns out they don’t actually own the island, right? They don’t actually own it because their father is actually their twin brother, and the father mysteriously died in a drowning incident.”

“Done,” says Colbert. “If it sells, I’ll give you half the royalties.”
