Like many women in prominent roles in the history of broadcasting, Prime Video host Taylor Rooks gets a lot of unwanted attention.
Talented, confident women in high-profile roles attract a tremendous amount of attention. And from the early days of her career at the Big Ten Network and later Bleacher Report, Rooks has been diligent in carrying out that investigation.
In a recent interview Marchand Sports Media Podcast, Rooks explains how he Maintains her privacy as her career continues to flourish, after recently earning Main hosting role for nba on prime,
“I believe you don’t need to comment on everything,” Rooks said. “It’s OK to let people be wrong. I see a lot of people who feel like they have to lend their voice to any rumor or they have to clap back at people online. I don’t believe that.”
Just last year, Roux went viral online for a see-through dress she wore on the red carpet for a GQ event. She later rebuked her critics and said that she did not want to be judged on the basis of what she wore. Or Also used as a “measuring stick” for women’s safety.
This was just one example of how both fans and tabloid outlets often discuss the Rooks. Over time, he has had to fortify himself against inaccuracies and judgment.
“Before I got married, I had 10 different fiancées (according to online rumors), and I was okay with that, because I had my own reality,” Rooks said.
“Because of the nature of what we do, I’m around people who are really famous, and I know the pitfalls of that. Giving people so much about yourself that you almost feel like you have nothing left for yourself. And feeling like you have to live up to what people want from you and their expectations and post X things.”
At the same time, Rooks tries to present her public persona the way she wants fans to see her. In other words, Rooks said, she doesn’t get involved in the investigation or inflate her sentiment too much by constantly working to counter online baiting.
“I consider myself a public-facing person, but I don’t consider myself a celebrity,” Rooks explained. “I think my life really shouldn’t be that interesting to anyone else. I don’t look at my personal life that way. I think it’s really important to have boundaries, but then again… I don’t think people are thinking about anyone as much as people think they’re thinking about them.”
Last year, Rooks posted photos from her wedding, which surprised many people. He had not announced his engagement.
Roux explained that she personally “doesn’t view personal milestones as material”, but shared some photos with GQ to create a permanent record of their relationship in hopes of alleviating the constant coverage of her romantic life.
Far from being naïve, Rooks is well aware of how the average person views him. Instead of fighting it or embracing it, Roux simply tries to keep it at an arm’s length and doesn’t get involved:
“I understand that there is interest. Just, for me, it doesn’t make me think that I need to promote every aspect of said interest.”
