If you’re already on the lookout for Black Friday iPhone deals, there’s no shortage of excellent promotions to check out at the major carriers this week. T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T all have massive seasonal events going on right now, trying to entice potential customers with a range of free devices.
But which one should you go for? Well, I am studying the different terms and conditions and eligibility criteria today to determine which one is the best value. The annoying thing is that it depends on what you’re looking for – and I’ve explored this in depth further down the page.
Today’s Black Friday deals at iPhone carriers
Breaking down these deals in detail
- Cheap/free accessories still require cellular lines
- T-Mobile’s iPhone 17 deal could be cheaper
So, which one is the best? Well, on paper, Verizon’s iPhone 17 deal looks like the clear winner as it’s the only deal that offers a free phone, iPad, and Apple Watch without the usual trade-in discounts.
However, one big caveat with the promotion is that you have to clear cellular lines on accessories, even if they are already free. If you’re looking to get a free iPhone 17 on a new line on the entry-level Welcome Unlimited plan, that could come at an extra $30/month.
AT&T’s Black Friday deal is also similar. You can get some super cheap stuff, but you’ll have to pay quite a bit more per month on a plan that already costs at least $75 per month for the phone.
In comparison, you don’t get any free gifts with T-Mobile’s headline Black Friday deal, instead trading accessories for super-cheap all-in-one deals on many phones. If you’re a multi-line user, this is a great option, considering you get a savings of $830 per device on a plan that costs $100/month in total for four lines. However, if you’re not looking for four rows, this is obviously a non-starter.
Which one would I personally go for?
In all three cases, I would consider the 17 Pro
So, in all cases, you’re not getting a free lunch with headline deals. In all cases, I would have liked to see deals on the higher-end iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max as well.
For example, in the case of Verizon’s deal, as long as you get the deal on the free iPad and Apple Watch, you can also go for the higher-tier plans to get the bundle discount. If you’re going for a higher-tier plan, why not skip the free features and get the iPhone 17 Pro instead?
Same is the case with T-Mobile and AT&T. In the case of the latter, a trade-in rebate of up to $1,100 covers the entire cost of an iPhone 17. And, since single-line users are more or less excluded from T-Mobile’s excellent deal on the iPhone 17, that’s a hefty $1,000 off the best you can currently get with a Switch.
