On Wednesday, Democrats released new, damaging emails from Epstein’s estate that allegedly mentioned Donald Trump — and Stephen Colbert isn’t surprised at all.
In late show In the clip above the host breaks down some of the emails, including one allegedly sent by Epstein to journalist Michael Wolff the year he died.
“In 2019, when Donald Trump was president, Epstein emailed Wolfe, writing, ‘Of course [Trump] “Knew about girls,” Colbert said on Wednesday night’s show. “Of course he did!” They were best friends, and the young girls were Epstein’s complete fascination. ‘Yes, the Hamburglar was my best friend, but I always assumed he was getting his burgers legitimately.’
Colbert spoke about Republicans accusing Democrats of “cherry-picking” the emails they released and releasing 20,000 pages of documents in response.
“This doesn’t prove anything!” Colbert says. “‘Your Honor, to definitively prove his innocence, I would like to call to the stand all the people my client did not murder.'”
