Stephen Curry is currently a shoe free agent, and the Golden State Warriors star is enjoying the freedom to wear anything he wants.
Curry honored NBA legend Michael Jordan on Monday by wearing the “Flu Game” Air Jordan 12 in the tunnel before the “Last Shot” Air Jordan 14 for warmups. Jordan notably wore those iconic shoes against the Utah Jazz, who the Warriors face on Monday.
Curry signed with Under Armor in 2013, but the two announced plans to go their separate ways earlier this month. As part of the split, Curry will have full ownership of his signature “splash” logo.
Curry’s final shoe with the brand, the Curry 13, will release in February, with additional colorways available through October 2026.
Curry has been the face of Under Armor Basketball for over a decade, but now he’ll be synonymous with another sneaker brand to end his career. What brand that will be remains to be seen, but in the meantime, he’s been enjoying other shoes.
Last week, Curry paid tribute to a pair of Magic legends when the Warriors faced Orlando. He wore Shaquille O’Neal’s signature Reebok shoes and Penny Hardaway’s Air Penny 2.
Curry also wore a pair of Dwyane Wade’s signature shoes, the Way of Wade 1, before the Warriors played the Miami Heat.
After facing the Jazz on Monday, the Warriors will take on the Houston Rockets. Perhaps Curry will take the field wearing Kevin Durant’s shoes.
Curry’s shoe decisions are certainly a storyline to watch this season, but his main focus is competing for a title. The 37-year-old has continued to play at a high level despite his age and has averaged 28.6 points per game this season.
Golden State has struggled early on, starting the year 9-9 as it looks to get things going in the right direction.
