Spotify might be raising its prices just after Wrapped

Well, it looks like your Spotify subscription is about to get even more expensive.

According to a new report from financial TimesSpotify is planning to raise subscription prices in the new year. The report said JPMorgan analysts estimate that Spotify users will face a price increase of $1 per month, bringing the subscription up to $12.99 per month, which is about $3 more per month than when Spotify first launched 14 years ago.

This will be the first price increase in the US since July 2024, TechCrunch reports, with the streaming service having increased prices in other countries including the UK, Switzerland, and Australia.

All the while, the conversation about Spotify Wrapped feels remarkably quiet compared to years past, when late November was filled with posts that read, “When will Wrapped drop, I need it now?!?!?!?!?!?”

To say the least, it’s an interesting time for Spotify.

If you believe the sentiments of posters on Musicians are also dropping their music on the stage, including Deerhoof, Xiu Xiu, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Hotline TNT, The Mynabirds, VU LYF, Kadhja Bonet, Young Widows and more.

A few weeks ago, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek announced that he plans to step down to become executive chairman.
