New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson will miss an extended period of time with a right adductor injury, sources tell ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Sources told Charania that Williamson, who has already missed 11 games this season, will be reevaluated in three weeks.
Williamson, 25, is averaging 22.1 points and 5.6 rebounds in 10 games this season, his seventh with the Pelicans.
According to ESPN Research, since being selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 draft, Williamson has played in only 224 of a possible 493 games (45%) for the Pelicans.
The last-place Pelicans (3-18) enter Tuesday with the NBA’s worst record.
According to ESPN Research, New Orleans’ net efficiency when Williamson is on the court this season is -3.0, while his net efficiency when he is off the court is -13.9.
