Space One is a few years old at this point, but they still hold up as a great budget option. They’re incredibly comfortable for long listening sessions, and they have battery life – up to 40 hours with ANC enabled – that will last through even the longest flights. Since they are over-ear headphones, they have good passive sound isolation. However, once you turn on active noise cancellation, they do an excellent job at blocking out low frequencies, such as airplane drones and nearby conversations. They’re not on par with the Sony WH-1000XM6 or Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones in their ANC impact or sound quality, but they offer commendable performance for a fraction of those headphones’ price.
The high and low frequencies on the Space One are a bit loud, so they sound a bit bassy and boomy by default, but you can try more than 20 different presets or tweak the sound yourself with the eight-band equalizer in the Anker companion app. It also includes HearID Sound Tuning, which guides you through some comparative listening questions to adjust the sound to your liking. The app also has a loudness meter that tells you when what you’re listening to becomes too loud and potentially dangerous to your ears.
One way Anker has cut costs on the headphones is to include a fabric carry bag instead of a traditional carry bag, so you won’t want to be careless about throwing them in your backpack. But beyond this issue, there’s a lot to like about the Soundcore Space One. With great ANC and sound, a comfortable fit, and long battery life, getting the Soundcore Space One is a great way to spend $68.
