Sony Dials In For Another ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Movie

Apparently it’s time for Sony to take another step Charlie’s Angels Once again.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio is working on a new film in the female-led franchise, from writer Pete Chiarelli (crazy rich asian) brought in to help get the ball rolling with a script. Interestingly, THR’s reporting mentions a source saying that Drew Barrymore will reportedly produce this new film, as she did when she produced the short-lived 2011 ABC series and the 2019 film.

Barrymore, along with Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz, created the most famous modern incarnation from the early 2000s. This new version is in early development at the time of writing, so it’s unclear whether Chiarelli’s script is trying to bring back that specific trio – everything that’s old is a sequel to Legacy – or focus on a new group of women working as spies for a never-seen-before man named Charlie. The most recent version to come out was the aforementioned Elizabeth Banks reboot, headlined by Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska (with Banks herself onscreen as a version of Bosley), and which received a mixed reception and quickly flopped at the box office.

We’ll have more details on the new Charlie’s Angels Film as soon as the news comes out.
