- Sony Alpha Germany reveals image of upcoming A7 V
- Sony’s main Instagram account confirms imminent launch event
- The A7 V is expected to have a 33MP full-frame sensor and AI smarts
It seems like Christmas is coming a few weeks early for Sony fans. The brand has officially announced an Alpha camera event for next week, as well as released an image showing the silhouette of the long-awaited Sony A7V camera body.
The silhouette image was posted as a Story on Sony Alpha Germany’s official Instagram account, and is actually a repost of an image originally posted by Munich-based photographer and videographer Jonas Wakewood.
We have to assume that Wakewood was given a pre-release version of the Sony A7V to use, and he posted the image with Sony’s full approval (if not outright order!). Unfortunately, it looks like the Instagram Story has now disappeared, but Sony Alpha Rumors caught hold of and enhanced the image (below).

The image is a dramatically lit silhouette with only a few details of the camera body featuring a full-frame sensor and the A7 logo visible, along with the caption “New Gear.” This could simply be the long-rumored Sony A7 V, which will be the first all-new A7 model released since 2021’s Sony A7 IV.
Meanwhile, the main Sony Alpha and Sony Electronics accounts have been teasing details of the upcoming Alpha program with the phrase “Chase your dream” (below). It’s scheduled to take place on December 2, 2025 at 9am EST / 2pm GMT / 11pm JST, which is midnight AEST on December 3 – and we’ll be absolutely shocked if the Sony A7V isn’t officially unveiled.
What can we expect?
We have previously reported on rumors related to this The Sony A7 V and its potential specifications and features, and we’re eagerly awaiting official confirmation from next week’s event – as well as news on price and release date. It is also possible that camera fans will be able to pre-order the A7 V from December 2nd.
Current speculation suggests that the A7 V will use a 33MP full-frame sensor, with the same resolution as the A7 IV. However, we suspect it won’t be exactly the same sensor, and will have some changes to improve performance – potentially faster read speeds or better image stabilization.
The A7 V is also expected to come with a dedicated AI chip that will bring advanced subject detection and tracking to the autofocus system, as well as a more powerful image processor for faster bursts and longer continuous shooting. Video quality can also be improved by offering 4K up to 120fps.
It looks like we don’t have much time until the truth is revealed. Check back here next week when we bring you all the confirmed details about Sony’s upcoming camera.
