SNOW TODAY | Tracking the timing, totals and impacts across south-central Pa.

Let's go Christine and look at the time for this. And we're taking a look at our rainfall chances for today. They will first develop ice before dawn. And then widespread snowfall with rain for the morning commute is trying to enter our southern countries by late morning. I think it will be raining across much of Lancaster, York, Adams County while the rest of the area is still snowing. But the system is slowing down rapidly before lunch time. Even earlier in the western counties and just after lunch in the eastern counties, it should be over. So we get a mix of rain and snow in this, but it starts out as snow and I expect snow to cover the entire area by 7 a.m. Now I'm starting to see some of those bright returns on the radar through Franklin, Adams counties. Even western parts of Mifflin, Juniata, Perry, and Cumberland counties may see some layers blowing. Therefore, as the morning approaches it will move towards the east. look at that. At 7 a.m. everyone starts watching the snow. However, pay attention to the rain snow line. It begins creeping into Lancaster, York, touching southern Adams County. And that's going to drastically reduce our snow totals in these places. So coating on two where we have 2 to 5 inches of mix. Elsewhere in the Susquehanna Valley. So you can see that the mix line may even come down to 81 by the time the rain ends. But then it stops very quickly. It's 1 p.m., and there are still a few rain showers in Lancaster County. But after that the rain ends. And that's good news as we look to dry out due to the wind this evening. But with temperatures falling into the low 20s tonight, expect it to remain mostly dry. I just want you to keep an eye out for some isolated smooth spots. Here is our expected accumulation. Due to a mixture of rain. Notice that white stripe? This is where we have about 2 to 5 inches of a coating of blue in the area. And then there might be some isolated five, maybe six isolated inches overall. As you move towards Schuylkill County and head towards the Poconos, but massive 2 to 5 inches where you're stuck with snow throughout the storm. Here's today's forecast from our News Eight hurricane team. It is snowing here this morning. A mix of rain in the south-east and ending with temperatures between 11 and 2 west to east. This afternoon they reach the mid 30s. Therefore salt will be very effective at that temperature. To clean up for tonight. partly cloudy. Feeling like a teenager though. That wind blows at a speed of 5 to 15 miles per hour. And check our temperature. They drop into the 20s, so any wet, untreated spot can become icy overnight. Tomorrow it will be partly sunny, with a low of 36 to 40. The average high is around 48, so at least it won't be too windy tomorrow. But I see strong winds in the almanac for us on Thursday. We got up to 43 yesterday before the peak of the storm, so the surface has warmed up quite nicely. We haven't really seen a hard freeze overnight yet. We're hovering right around that cooldown mark. Some spots are in the upper 20s. Most are in the low 30s. So I expect the temperature to remain below 30 degrees when the rains start. But look at this. This system has a hot nose. You can see that the rain is trying to hide towards our south-eastern countries. I think you'll get some snow early on in Lancaster County, but you'll see mostly rain from this event. Let me show you about the prophet here. You can see that rain snow line almost all the way up to 81. Until the rain ends. But this system ends soon. And we'll clean up tonight. Tomorrow. The wind is not as strong as it will be at night. The air dissipates with high pressure, and then we get this front which is primarily a dry front. There may be some turbulence on Thursday, but boy, that front is going to leave its mark as we won't hit 30 degrees in some areas until Friday. Saturday and Sunday we return to the upper 30s, but it's still about ten degrees below average. We should have a mainly dry weekend. There will be some storms or some snow at times next week. Hard to pin down right now, but I'll tell you what. The temperature will remain at T
