The 28-year-old Olympic gymnast hinted at that exact moment when she exclusively told PEOPLE about her first date with the NFL player and the feelings she felt during their initial meeting five years ago.

And it wasn’t a typical sentiment felt by Biles, who was introduced to the 30-year-old Chicago Bears safety in March 2020. It was something else she couldn’t describe.

“Oh my God… it wouldn’t even make sense. What’s the right word? I can’t stand it when a girl says, ‘Oh my God, I knew it was him because…’ How does that feel? What does that mean?” he asked, laughing and despairingly.

In an attempt to choose the most accurate words to express how she was feeling on their first date, the seven-time Olympic gold medalist couldn’t find a single word. However, he remembers the words he said to his friends immediately after meeting them.

“Why did I say that? I don’t know. I don’t know why I said that,” she laughs. “It was just a random weird feeling that I had never felt before, and then it just happened. So I think he was very kind and sweet, he made me laugh.”

She adds, “Obviously there were a lot of different things involved. But why did I say that? I don’t know.”

Before their official first date, Biles and Owens met each other by chance during a Texas game in January 2019. The gymnast was invited to lead the team out of the tunnel, and ironically the football star could be seen in the background of photographs from that day.

However, the pair did not officially meet on the dating app Raya until March 2020, with Biles making the first move.

“It’s a really fun time because I’ve actually missed a lot of their games throughout my career because I’ve been doing my own thing,” she tells People in reference to her gymnastics schedule. “So being there in person and being in a different environment is obviously a lot of fun.”

She’s also a proud WAG.
