During his recent appearance on On Film… with Kevin McCarthy (via World of Reel), Shawn Levy revealed that he was “forced” to rewrite and reshoot a new ending. Star Wars: Starfighter.
We had a completely different idea for something in the third act, and then things didn’t align, and I was forced to come up with a new idea. And I’m actually shooting that part of the film right now. And every day, I’m grateful that it didn’t work out the way I was supposed to, because the new idea it forced me to explore was so much better than the original idea. You can argue that’s true of Marvel, it’s true of other franchises, but nothing commands as much religious loyalty as Star Wars. And so, the need, the pressure, to get it right, which is mostly self-generated – is intense.
