Shakira reacts to Dua Lipa’s cover of ‘Antología’: “I’m so touched”

Shakira has reacted to the cover of Dua Lipa’s track ‘Antologia’.

Lipa brought her ‘Radical Optimism’ tour to Bogota, Colombia on Friday (November 28), playing at the city’s Estadio El Campin.

During the show, she surprised the audience with a cover of Shakira’s 1995 hit – a tradition on this tour in which she pays tribute to local music icons of the city she is performing in.

After the show, Shakira praised Lipa’s performance on Instagram, sharing a clip and writing: “I was so touched to hear my song in Dua’s voice, in the same city where I wrote it years ago.

“See how music brings us together?” He continued. “One girl from London and the other from Barranculla!”

So far, the long list of artists covered by Lipa includes Ariana Grande in Miami, Aerosmith in Boston, Sinéad O’Connor in Dublin, Daft Punk in Lyon, Lorde in Zeeland and more.

Additionally, Lipa has brought in several major artists to help cover her songs. So far, these include Billie Joe Armstrong for ‘Wake Me Up When September End’ in San Francisco, Gwen Stefani for ‘Don’t Speak’ in Los Angeles, Nile Rodgers for ‘Le Freak’ in New York City, Chaka Khan for ‘Ain’t Nobody’ in Chicago, Jamiroquai for ‘Virtual Insanity’ in London, Neil Finn for ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ in Auckland and ‘The Kevin Parker’. ‘The less I know the better’ in Sydney.

Recently, she joined Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard for a cover of ‘I’ll Follow You Into the Dark’ in Seattle.

In June, they played two Wembley shows which later became the subject of a mini-documentary titled Dua Lipa – The Beat Before (Wembley Stadium)Which featured behind-the-scenes footage and fan vox-pops of the events.

Lipa will conclude the tour with three shows at Mexico City’s Estadio GNP Seguros from December 1–5.

The tour is in support of their third studio album ‘Radical Optimism’ NME Gave a three star review. While we wrote that “the sonics presented here are some of the most interesting Lipa has worked on”, we also noted that “there’s nothing else worth seeing on ‘Radical Optimism'”.

In other news, Lipa recently revealed she is now studying A-level Spanish after passing her GCSE exams.
