Second teenage boy charged with murder after alleged stabbing behind Sydney school | Sydney

A second teenage boy has been charged with murder after he allegedly stabbed an older boy to death behind a school.

The victim, a 17-year-old boy, died from a stab wound to his thigh after the confrontation in a park in north-west Sydney about 4.20pm on Monday.

The same night another 15-year-old boy was charged with murder.

Police arrested a second 15-year-old boy in the alleged attack after executing a search warrant at a house near the crime scene around 9.45pm on Tuesday.

He has since been charged with murder and was due to appear in court on Wednesday.

The first, a 15-year-old boy who cannot be identified for legal reasons, appeared in children’s court on Tuesday.

He did not apply for bail and will remain in custody for the next eight weeks.

In a police affidavit, police alleged that the youth attacked the victim without any provocation and stabbed him in the groin area.

The court also heard that a 15-year-old boy was captured in police body-worn camera footage telling an officer, “I stabbed another boy in the leg”.

The death has shocked the community, which happened in a reserved area, close to several high schools and in full view of many people walking nearby.

On Tuesday morning, local people were seen in the area, some laying flowers in honor of the deceased.

Police said the people involved in Monday’s confrontation were not from the nearby school and authorities do not believe it was a random attack.

The second teenager was refused bail to appear in children’s court on Wednesday.
