Search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 to resume over 11 years after plane went missing | Malaysia Airlines flight MH370

Malaysia’s transport ministry has announced that the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 will resume this month, more than a decade after the plane was lost.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Transport Ministry said the search would resume on December 30, and confirmed that US robotics company Ocean Infinity will take part in the search of the seabed that will last 50 days.

Flight MH370, en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, with 12 Malaysian crew members and 227 passengers on board, disappeared from air traffic radar on 8 March 2014. Its disappearance sparked the largest search operation ever, but the plane’s fate was never known and it remains one of the biggest aviation mysteries.

In 2024, Malaysia said it was willing to reopen the investigation into the disappearance if new evidence was found.
