Based on the advertised deep contouring and pressure-relieving AirCradle foam, I expected pressure relief to be a standout feature, but it didn’t. This doesn’t mean that pressure relief was absent in the test, but it was minimal compared to firmer hybrid mattresses I’ve tested, such as the DreamCloud Hybrid or the Wolf Memory Foam Hybrid Premium Firm. Which leads me to assert: In my opinion, this was not a “medium” mattress. Saatva rates this mattress between a 5 and 7 on the firmness scale, so it falls into the medium-firm category. Unless you weigh over 200 pounds or have a tall body, your body weight will cause more shrinkage. It felt like a real firm mattress, which I would rate 7.5 to 8 out of 10. For reference, firmer hybrid mattresses like the Plank Firm Lux and Bear Elite Hybrid that we’ve tested stay in the 8 to 10 range on the firmness scale.
To be clear, a firm mattress is not a bad thing at all. The light padding was perfect for my pressure points, especially my hips, and was perfect for back and stomach sleepers. How much spinal alignment support do you get from this mattress, it is a Excellent Alternatives to these two sleeping positions. Side sleepers cause me a lot of hesitation. During my two-week testing period, I also tried this mattress with Saatva’s Graphite Memory Foam Topper, which was included in the Winter Bundle. This helped a lot in creating more cushion for sinking. The downside is that it is not included with the mattress and costs extra. This will be available for athletes in Colorado Springs, but I wonder if, for the LA28, it might be more strategic to go with the Saatva Classic mattress, with its three customizable firmness levels and two heights. However, I can’t even begin to think about the logistical headache that would cause; I’m just a humble mattress tester.
The Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid performed well at maintaining a bouncy feel, which supported me while moving between sleeping positions. It also maintained good motion isolation while keeping the bed stable so that my husband would not be disturbed when I tossed and turned. I wouldn’t label it a cooling mattress, even with the graphite-containing topper. It was more temperature-neutral, not accumulating excessive body heat, but it also did not feel cool to the touch.

Overall, this is a high-quality offering from Saatva, and based on my testing history with the brand, I expected nothing less. It also comes with Saatva’s free white-glove delivery service, which includes delivery, mattress installation, and removal of your old mattress. As someone who is on the lookout for bedding every week, this is a great thing to have as part of your shopping. Throw in the 365-night sleep trial with no minimum “break-in” period, plus the lifetime warranty offered by Saatva, and you’ll probably begin to understand why I’ve always considered this brand one of the best in the game – they know what they’re doing.
