  • In a post on his Truth social platform, Trump said he had instructed his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow and his Army Secretary, Dan Driscoll, at the same time as Ukrainian officials, “in hopes of finalizing this peace plan”.
  • Trump later on Tuesday walked back his previous deadline to agree to a US-backed peace plan for Ukraine, saying, “My deadline is when this is over.”

However, he also reiterated that any resolution to the war must preserve Ukraine’s sovereignty and its long-term security.
  • He also confirmed that long-term financing would be made available for Ukraine, including the use of frozen Russian assets for reconstruction.
  • Ukraine’s Deputy Presidential Premier Ihor Zhovkva met with European Commission’s Gert Jan Koopman to discuss progress on EU membership. The proposed peace plan reportedly leaves the door open for Ukraine to join the EU, but not NATO.
