If you’ve been on the Internet long enough, you know Rule 34: If it exists, it contains pornography.
This may seem strange, especially in a time of age-verification laws requiring personal data of users visiting NSFW sites (and sometimes even SFW sites), but as of 2016, Rule 34 was created by a British teenager in 2003. Washington Post Article. The early 2000s were a very different time on the Internet. Before Instagram, before TikTok, before the age of validation. But porn? Porn has always existed online.
Pornhub is now blocked in all states
While the web has changed a lot in the last 20 years since “Rule34” was defined, it still rings true – especially when you look at Rule34dle, which is a mash-up of the infamous rulegame and everyone’s favorite word game, Wordle.

Like Wordle, Rule34dle is a game, but completely different. When you visit the site, you will be paired with two fictional franchise characters (like Pokemon) and told how many pornographic posts the one on the left has. The number of dirty posts for the character on the right is hidden. You must guess which of the two has more explicit art online.

If you are correct, you will be paired with the character with the higher dirt count and a new character – and you will build your streak from there.
There are also several variations to the game play, including franchise characters, removal of AI results, and “hard mode”, which lets you choose between three characters, and all obvious post numbers are hidden.
According to the website, Rule34dle, created by Reddit user u/DandelionGaming based on an idea from u/PensAndEndorsement on Reddit, also offers a daily challenge. Each day, you can play 10 comparison rounds with different characters in each round. You will have to guess blindly – the number of porn art posts for both characters will be hidden. The daily challenge is the same for everyone, and if you make even one mistake, you can still play all 10 rounds.
And good news for fan fiction fans: there’s also an alpha version of AO3dle, where you can guess which of the two characters more erotica works are written about, on the fan fiction website Archive of Our Own (also known as AO3). AO3dle features both a unique pairing and a daily challenge, as does rule34dle.
As Kotaku reported, the streamer has been playing Rule34dle with his friends on TikTok and the results are hilarious.
