An experienced hacking group has claimed to have infiltrated Rockstar Games’ cloud servers, while the game publisher has confirmed that a “third-party data breach” had occurred. ShinyHunters, a hacker group linked to data breaches targeting Microsoft, Google, Ticketmaster and others, posted a message on their website with an ultimatum for Rockstar to “pay up or be leaked.” The hack was first seen hackread and this cybersec guru.
ShinyHunters did not reveal what Rockstar data it gained access to, only saying that the company had until April 14 to reach out or the group would leak the compromised information causing “many annoying (digital) problems”.
