Robert Redford’s daughter is correcting the spread of misinformation about the legendary actor’s funeral arrangements following his death amid fake AI tributes.

In a statement posted to Instagram on Thursday, November 21, Amy Radford, 55, spoke out against the fake funerals and tributes that recently surfaced online.

“There are multiple AI versions of funerals, obituaries, and quotes from my family members that are fabricated,” Amy wrote. “The presentation of my dad, who doesn’t say anything outright, and the portrayal of my family that doesn’t present anyone in a positive light are extra challenging during a difficult time.”

“We’re grieving together and we’re all supporting each other,” he said.

Speaking specifically on the use of AI in perpetuating lies, Amy added, “I just ask, what if it were you? Let that be your guide. Let human authenticity come alive, inspire and be the connective tissue we all want.”

He explained that his father has not been given a public funeral and that the family is “working on our plans for a memorial in the future.”

Amy said, “Every family should have the ability to grieve, represent their lost person, and pay tribute in the way that best suits their values ​​and family culture.”

Amy also thanked fans for their “overwhelming amount of love and support” towards her and the rest of the Redford family.

“It’s clear he meant a lot to many people, and I know my family is overwhelmed by the stories and tributes pouring in from all corners of the world,” she wrote.

Robert Redford died on September 16 at the age of 89. The Oscar-winning actor died in his sleep “at his home in Sundance in the mountains of Utah — surrounded by the people he loved — where he loved,” Cindy Berger, president and CEO of Rogers & Cowan PMK, told PEOPLE in a statement at the time.
